Perpetuating a Stereotype

I like Charlotte Russe.  Really, I do.  Enough to get their emails every day, and, once in a while, look at their gorgeous clothes.  Today I found this.

Here's a picture:

And another picture:

Do you see what I see?

This "crocheted" wrap is obviously knit.  It's enough to make me write a strongly-worded email.  Crochet is not knitting.  Knitting is not crochet.  They are two.  Different.  Crafts.

What's worse is people just don't understand my angst. I understand, if you do neither it may not seem like a big deal. But to me, semantics is an incredibly important aspect of intelligence.  It just seems like an incredibly 'DERP' moment.

(Note: I do not own these images, nor am I claiming ownership in publishing them here.)

  1. That is SO knit! It's awfully cute too. Are you going to get it?

  2. When people get it wrong it annoys me too!

  3. I totally understand what you mean about the difference, and I agree with your thoughts on semantics. My boyfriend calls me a grammar-nazi, and then tells me I'm not allowed to correct him unless I have a Major in English.

  4. It is a very big deal! I don't really like to crochet because the difference between knit a crochet is a big difference in appearance. Shame on them!

  5. As soon as I looked at the first picture, I thought .... Chrochet?!?! Nope. At least those of us that do knit or crochet ... can tell that its knit and the title of the pattern is wrong.

  6. Wow this is one of my pet peeves too! I crochet and I'm in the process of teaching myself to knit. There is a huge difference between the two and it annoys me people just assume they are the same thing.
